Additional information

The research led to the development of a new module within the Chemkin software suite (a commercially available chemical kinetics software) which considered photochemical reactions (code at http://purl.umn.edu/109353). The work was also novel in its approach in the treatment of surface reactions on gas-phase nanoparticles (free-molecule regime), resulting in the modelling of silica surface growth for an in-flight process which “added significant extensions to the capabilities of the commercial Chemkin software.” Michael Coltrin, Sandia,(ID_in_audit_file@sandia.gov). The research is the basis for a grant that was recently funded by the Royal Society (GBP15k, 2013, RG120630).
