Additional information

This paper describes the use of large deformation structural analysis methods to develop an improved understanding of the rather complex mechanical behaviour of collagen-rich tissues such as the human lens capsule. It has attracted the interest (as indicated by citations) of researchers working in the more general area of tissue engineering. It led to an invitation (by Dr Pandolfi of Politecnico di Milano,

www.stru.polimi.it/people/pandolfi/index.plp) to present a multiscale implementation of this modelling approach at a minisymposium on Theoretical and Numerical Modelling of the Function of the Eye at 8th European Solid Mechanics Conference, ESMC12, in July 2012.
