Additional information
<22> This publication, in the flagship journal in the field of evolutionary optimisation, picks up the traditional (non-computer science) idea of "oiling the squeaky wheel" and turns it into a novel heuristic optimisation algorithm. This results in a highly effective, yet compact algorithm, shown to be a powerful performer across a range of test instances including some best ever results. The work was used as one motivation to obtain Nottingham's £2.7M EPSRC project "Next Generation Decision Support: Automating the Heuristic Design Process" (EP/D061571/1) and was further extended there.
