An oxygen-deficient perovskite as selective catalyst in the oxidation of alkyl benzenes.
Collaborative study funded by The King Saud University to evaluate oxygen-defective perovskites as catalysts for the oxidation of hydrocarbons. Highlights the unusually high catalytic activity and selectivity of an oxygen-deficient perovskite with ferromagnetic properties, solving a major problem in the development of inexpensive heterogeneous catalyst and its easy recovery from the reaction media. Work led to a US patent application (US 2013/0144084 A1). Co-authors given 3 invited talks at international meetings, e.g. MRS. Gave rise to collaboration with Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ), and leading to further research and papers in the area.
