Additional information

Fabrication and performance of fibre Bragg gratings in novel germanate and tellurite glass fibers is a key enabling step to using these fibres for optical components such as lasers and filters, and has been cited as a possible route to fabricate laser sub-components (DOI:10.1364/OE.20.005082). Our experimental characterisation of the environmental sensitivity of these structures (thermal and strain sensitivities) is important for any practical devices using these materials.
