The international collaboration that has led to this work originally stemmed from Professor Sharif’s leadership of an ICT research theme within Etisalat – the major telecoms company in the middle East. The work reported in this paper achieves complexity reduction in portable digital wireless communication devices. The results have also demonstrated up to 1.5dB performance improvement over conventional methods. This substantial improvement, in the context of error correction codes, will be useful to a plethora of future applications, where performance improvement at low complexity will be a crucial requirement
