Additional information

Present infra-red technologies use a bulky microbolometer. Rectennas are a compact alternative, combining a rectifier and antenna into one device, and can be used device for solar energy harvesting and infra-red imaging. However, they are very time consuming to model using finite element methods, thus posing problems for their integration in electronics circuit simulators. This paper has produced a new, simplified analytical circuit model, which enables very rapid performance assessment. The research is in collaboration with a visiting academic from the University of Mosul, Iraq, and led to a research chapter in a book (ISBN 978-1-4614-3715-4).
