Bubble formation in a quiescent pool of gold nanoparticle suspension
The paper expanded our knowledge on bubble formation from pure fluid to a nanoparticle suspension. It demonstrated for the first time that nanoparticles suspended in the liquid can modify the wettability and affect triple line dynamics and bubble growth significantly, with applications in colloids and surface science, and boiling with nanoparticle suspensions. The work is originated from an EPSRC project (EP/E065449/1), and contributed greatly to the author’s election to Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (2010). It led to invited keynotes in 8th Int. Conf. on Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics, (2011) and 6th European Thermal Science Conference (2012).
