Additional information

This unusual collaboration enabled two collegiate choirs to combine forces to explore some of the byways of German Romantic choral music, in particular Richard Strauss’s Deutsche Motette, a 20-part work that is rarely performed and then usually by radio chamber choirs. Part of the research imperative was to create a choral sound where the complex harmonic detail could be heard clearly in the overall shaping of a piece on the grandest scale of late romanticism. The conducting was shared by Trendell and Webber.
