Development of knee rehabilitation research themes. Kate Button plays a leading role as the clinical researcher for studies with respect to Knee injuries within the Physiotherapy Department, University Hospital Wales, Cardiff and the Arthritis Research UK Biomechanics and Bioengineering Centre, Cardiff University. Three other staff members (van Deursen, Roos and Sparkes to a lesser degree) being submitted in UoA3 work collaboratively with Button and together they have published papers being submitted to UoA3. The work has a specific focus on knee disorders, including anterior cruciate injury and rehabilitation of knee injuries. As a clinical physiotherapist she brings clinical expertise to research conducted in the School of Healthcare Sciences and works very closely with biomechanist(Roos) and other physiotherapists (van Deursen and Sparkes) and she makes key contributions to this field. The broader aspects of rehabilitation and musculoskeletal disorders are evident in several of the papers being submitted by members of UoA3 including Sheeran, Sparkes, van Deursen and Roos.
