Analysis of wear, wear particles, and reduced inflammatory potential of vitamin E ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene for use in total joint replacement
Invited paper selected as a research highlight of the 2010 Orthopaedic Research Society, USA. Collaboration with internationally leading group in Japan headed by Tomita (ntomita@chachan.mbox.media.kyoto-u.ac.jp). Research revealed novel biological benefits of adding Vitamin E to UHMWPE, indicating this material could outperform gold standard materials, leading to improved implant longevity. Led to Tipper being invited to deliver 5 international presentations in Turin and Philadelphia (UHMWPE Congress 2009, 2011, 2013), San Antonio (ORS 2013) and Venice (CORS 2013), an invited journal paper (Bone & Joint Research, in preparation) and invited to join the scientific committee for two conferences in Philadelphia and Turin.
