Investigation of heat transfer coefficient in a gas-solids dense phase pneumatic pipe flow
This publication reports some of Yingna Zheng’s PhD work. Pugh, the Director of Studies, proposed the initial idea and directed much of the experimental investigation. The work established that the direct measurement of solids’ temperature was feasible and led to funding (Proof of Concept - £200,000, P.I.: D. McGlinchey) to investigate a unique industrial-scale mass flowmeter. This funding from Scottish Enterprise validates the importance of a solids mass flowmeter to a range of industries and an acknowledgement that it represents a new approach to measuring the mass flow across a range of pneumatic conveying conditions found in industry.
