This output develops the first generative analysis of a highly intricate set of phenomena linking word order with subtle aspects of semantic and pragmatic interpretation in a free-word order native American language. This necessitated a long and complex period of preparatory fieldwork with aging consultants as well as much subsequent checking during the writing, all of which was intensely time consuming. Originally intended to be published as three journal articles, it was brought together as a coherent whole in a monograph because of the conceptual interdependencies of its parts.
