The research, supported by EPSRC grant no. EP/F023669/1, uses a simple statistical argument to develop a data-driven method to determine the fixation of human gaze. The ad-hoc speed thresholds used in previous research are avoided and results closely match those of manual experts. The journal was selected to reach primary users of fixation techniques but it is too soon to judge take-up in the community.
