Data-Based Robust Multiobjective Optimization of Interconnected Processes: Energy Efficiency Case Study in Papermaking
This paper develops a robust, iterative, practical optimization method for improving the energy efficiency of energy-intensive processes. The design study described in the paper was performed for Smurfit Kappa SSK through Perceptive Engineering Ltd (contact details available). The approach was successfully demonstrated in two UK paper mills and significantly reduced steam consumption (energy) while maintaining product quality and increasing paper production.
