Additional information

This was one of several papers resulting from EPRSC project (EP/E009158/1) to assess the potential of using electromagnetic induction techniques to inspect biological materials. Biological materials have a much lower conductivity than traditional applications on metals and present a significant challenge. The innovation here was an efficient solution to the forward problem as part of the 3D image reconstruction problem. The research has led to low conductivity applications in food quality (fruit and meat products) with two major EU projects with fruit growers (FRUITGRADING, Grant ref 286737, 2.09MEuro) and meat producers (Q-MEAT, Grant ref 286487, 998 kEuro) starting in 2012.
