Additional information

Colour constancy is the invariance of surface colour in scenes imaged by the eye or colour camera despite changes in illumination spectrum. The work, which addressed a long-standing problem of inconsistency in visual signals, was published in this specialist journal because of its coverage of new methodologies and relevant applications. Foster's EPSRC award funded Reeves from Northeastern University as a visiting researcher. The results have been picked up by research groups in the USA (e.g. DOI: 10.1016/j.visres.2012.03.006), DOI: 10.1364/JOSAA.29.000A52, DOI: 10.1037/a0023257) and elsewhere, and have been incorporated into several review articles (e.g. DOI: 10.1016/j.visres.2010.09.012, DOI: 10.1177/1073858408331369).
