<27>This work extended the application of Sun et al's 3D mesh denoising method into geomorphology. The denoising algorithm was developed into an add-on module called "r.denoise" [http://trac.osgeo.org/grass/browser/grass-addons/grass6/raster/r.denoise] of the GRASS GIS software suite [http://grass.osgeo.org] and has an active user base - as evidence of this, a Google search on "r.denoise" + GRASS yields almost 800 results [accessed 11/10/13] many of which discuss the use of this add-on in various developer forums.
