Significance of output:

Here we collected skeletal motion data and knee forces in two subjects with electronic knee implants to obtain the first verification of a numerical model for estimating the knee forces during an activity spectrum. The forces at the knee cap, which cannot be measured but predicted by the model, represent the best estimate today and complete our understanding of the forces at the knee. The initial analyses enabled us to extend the measurements to 9 subjects. This data is made publicly available and provides previously unavailable information critical for devising improved treatment of injuries and chronic diseases affecting the knee
