Critical Engagements 3.1 (Spring 2009) brings together a range of articles drawn and developed from the Paraliterary Narratives: Reassessing the 'Graphic Novel' conference held at the University of Northampton in June 2008. As such the breadth of the articles in the collection address both the diversity of approaches to studying the graphic novel form from a variety of disciplines and a desire to provide a dynamic critical model to the many artistic practices collected under the term 'graphic novel'. In addition to acting as Guest Co-Editor of this special issue I contributed a single-authored article on Alan Moore's 'reimagining' of the Marvel/Miracleman narratives.
