Double-weighted statement

This monograph should be double weighted because of its word length (90,000 words), the length of time it has taken to prepare, and the multidisciplinary nature of my research. This has involved studies in global histories, economics, literary criticism and psychoanalytic theory. I undertook primary research in France that yielded previously unpublished archival documents and unexamined representations. Other foreign language research was necessary in Chinese and Japanese. Significant work was completed as Research Fellow at the Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art in Paris (2010) and the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, Williamsburg, Mass. (2012).
