Additional information

This first demonstration of multi-pixel and multi-channel visible light communications from a single gallium nitride LED chip achieved the highest aggregated data rate from such a device, opening the way to massively-parallel scaling to the Tb/s data rate range. This helped secure a £4.6M EPSRC Programme Grant Award [EP/K00042X/1; 2012-2016]. The concept was a key element motivating the formation of the Intelligent Lighting Centre. This centre will bring together researchers from UoAs 13, 9 and 8 to deliver research in high impact areas including visible light communications.
