This paper building on earlier work, was the winner of the Emerald Literati Network Outstanding Paper Awards for Excellence 2012. It has a significant number of downloads by industry and academia and has resulted in collaborations at Arizona State University and contributed to the further development of the Trade Waste Bring Sites initiative introduced by Constructing Excellence Wales Construction Waste Programme. The paper was the basis of a successful £17,000 research bid entitled “Sustainable transport and distribution of construction materials and waste” submitted jointly by Constructing Excellence Wales, Constructing Excellence South West, Environment Agency, and Bristol City Council.
