Optimisation of concentrator in the solar photonic optoelectronic transformer: comparison of geometrical performance and cost of implementation
This paper describes a new technology for Building Integrated Photovoltaic Systems. It describes a novel optical concentrator capable of providing gain in two different planes. A patent application has been filed by the University for this technology, which, in addition to allowing a larger electrical output from PV modules and contributing to the illumination of buildings, allows a reduction in the system cost and in CO2 emissions. This paper is contributing to attract interest from industry for the commercial exploitation of the patent, and additional funding to create a large scale prototype.
