Additional information

This paper was the result of a research collaboration with the Federal Technological University of Paraná, Brazil that led to the first-ever empirical study on outdoor thermal comfort in Glasgow. The work subsequently led to a sabbatical research visit, funded by the ‘Science without Borders’ (Ciências sem Fronteiras) programme of the Brazilian National Council of Scientific Research (Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa Científica, CNPq). The relationship between urban variable and outdoor comfort established by the research reported in this paper forms the basis of the research group’s consultancy work.
