<13>Reporting on a theoretical study of the Neighbourhood Counting Measure (Wang 2006, IEEE PAMI), this paper provides the theoretical foundation for designing efficient Bayes classifiers, as it is shown that NCM provides a means of efficiently estimating probability from data. This work contributed directly to BEACON (Software Defect Detection), a Royal Society-funded joint project with Tsinghua University, Beijing, and has inspired two PhD projects (Maria Dobrska on Order Learning, and Shreeya Sengupta on Multidimensional Time Series) and projects DEEPFLOW (funded by SAP and InvestNI) and SAVASA (FP7).
