Double-weighted statement

This monograph ranges widely across what historically have been perceived as the some of the more fundamental areas of music scholarship, but addresses them in a new, socially-located fashion, with radical new conclusions regarding the social practice within which the polyphonic Mass functioned. The research was complex and ramified, involving extensive interpretative study in both primary and secondary source material. It built on long-standing preoccupations in my research and was conducted over a period of some 10 years.
