Additional information

This article examines the role of antifascism in perceptions of the GDR in Britain, with a particular emphasis on the British Left. It accounts for a number of shared experiences and values during the early years of the Cold War and how generational changes eroded – if not ended – the value of the GDR‘s antifascist propaganda in its 'image cultivation‘ by the 1980s.
