Additional information

This research addressed convergence issues in turbomachinery through-flow analysis codes, resulting in software that gives robust solutions over wider range of boundary conditions than previously. The robust methodologies developed were incorporated in the software tool SOCRATES, now routinely used by Cranfield and the Hellenic Air Force Academy (HAFA) in the design and performance analysis of modern axial-flow compressors (contact HAFA Dean - Prof. P. Kotsiopoulos, kotsiopoulos@hafa.gr). At Cranfield SOCRATES is also being used within the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre in various turbomachinery design and performance improvement studies (contact at RR - Richard Tunstall, Richard.Tunstall@Rolls-Royce.com).
