Additional information

The screw theory in this paper has shown clear advantages over classical methods when used to investigate mobility of this kind of smart structural system, e.g. modern large span retractable roof structures used in sports stadia, and yields a delicate mathematical approach to deal with the kinematic analysis of general space closed loop structure. This research has attracted considerable interest from industrial specialist including dome specialists to analysing unconventional deployable structures (e.g. Director of Voyant Ltd, houman.amlashi@voyant.org.uk).
