Additional information

Reports research in collaboration with CERN - the European Organization for Nuclear Research, where UCL partners in 3.5 M€ EU-funded network. A unique technological transformation of telecommunication network concepts for use in large data systems required to upgrade CERN's Large Hadron Collider. The work reports extensive and world-first new experimentation for long-term testing of optical reflective modulators (REAM) devices under intense radiation. Work has led to new architectures proposed for use at CERN's future upgrade as well as to new understanding of the physical properties of REAM devices. CERN contact Dr Francois Vasey, Physics Group Optoelectronics Section Leader.
