Presents the first fully analytical model for ALSTOM’s STACOM-based multilevel converters. The model was verified over a wide frequency range using a detailed, non-linear simulation platform. Similar converter concepts have been adopted by all major manufacturers for other high-power converters. The model from this paper is being used for design and studies of modern HVDC based on multilevel concepts
