Double-weighted statement

This is the first examination of a heretofore unexplored collection of British filmmakers who migrated to, and worked in, Hollywood during the first half of the twentieth century. The book involved extensive archival research for which it received an AHRC Research Leave Grant. Rare files and papers on largely unknown émigrés such as Reginald Barker and Charles Brabin were accessed at the Margaret Herrick Library of the Motion Picture Academy, along with primary materials at the Cinematic Library of the University of Southern California, and the Shavelson-Webb Writers Guild Library, all in Los Angeles.
