Additional information

The most important feature of this work is that no oxidation of the graphene layers occurs in the carbon structure, a serious problem for many other methods and one which significantly degrades the electronic properties of the graphene materials. In view of the availability of carbon nanotubes, this method is very promising. A company (Nano New Materials Limited Co. set up by the author etc in China) aims to produce mass graphene layers in this way. Further research into electrode materials from these graphene layers is in collaboration with Prof Gang Yang, Changshu Institute of Technology, China.
