Additional information

This paper presents the latest highlight on Aston’s innovative fibre devices, initially developed with funding by EPSRC, US Air Force and Boeing, and now have almost reached commercial maturity with high polarisation function. These devices can withstand optical power up to 20W, ten times better than the commercial products on the market. This work has generated one patent (GB1204197) and 20 papers published in peer-review journals and international conferences. About 100 custom-designed devices have been supplied to the US Air Force and Boeing and 20 prototype samples marketed by Arden Photonics (Mr Robinson, david@ardenphotonics.com) at international exhibitions.
