Additional information

This paper is one of the very few references available in the public domain on the visualisation and characterisation of free radicals in flames for improving combustion efficiency and reducing pollutant emissions. It presents a unique optical design which is capable of imaging and recording simultaneously the spectroscopic emissions of four flame radicals. It is the outcome of an EPSRC project (EP/G002398/1). The conference version of the paper was awarded the Best Poster Prize at the International Conference on Sensors and their Applications XV in 2009. It also underpinned two EPSRC research grants (EP/G062153/1 and EP/G063214/1).
