<20> Work at the forefront of pedestrain wayfinding, introducing a technique a novel tactile display technique based on a radar metaphor, requiring only a single tactile actuator. Tactile navigation techniques are significant, as they are unobtrusive and don't require visual or aural attention by the user. The work includes rigorous study of tactile patterns to convey directional information and evaluation in an outdoor wayfinding experiment. Published in UIST, the HCI field's leading conference on technical innovation, as one of 67 papers accepted from 262 submissions (25.5%).
