Additional information

This research employed an advanced nested modelling system to study the impact of climate change on wave conditions over the west European Shelf seas, based on the IPCC greenhouse gas emission scenarios. The research, supported by SWDRA, was in collaboration with Exeter University. The research reveals the seasonal and annual variations of wave conditions in the sea areas being considered for commercial wave arrays. The results provide valuable information for the design of wave energy devices, and are useful for long-term sustainable development of marine renewable energy in the area. This work also led to collaboration with Swansea University.
