Additional information

The paper reports on the application of a new (2008) unstructured grid finite volume model, developed within the research centre, for predicting hydrodynamic and solute transport processes in coastal and estuarine basins. The model was applied herein to three of the five shortlisted schemes considered in the DECC 2008 Severn Tidal Power Studies, to assess the hydro-environmental impact and power generation potential of each scheme in the Severn Estuary. These results (along with others) have been presented by Falconer at numerous public lectures to debate the Severn Barrage project, e.g. May 2008, Royal Academy of Engineering (http://www.raeng.org.uk/events/pdf/euro_case_2008/Roger_Falconer.pdf, Case Study 1)
