Additional information

This research involved modelling the flow of self compacting concrete using a Lagrangian particle based method, Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH). The numerical results corresponded to experimental test findings and confirm that the developed SPH methodology is capable of accurately predicting Self Compacting Concrete flow. The authors were invited to present this paper in a keynote address at the European Conference in Computational Mechanics in 2010. The work has also led to further studies and is currently being explored to aid in designing reinforced self-compacting concretes for realistic applications in the construction industry.
