<22> Originality: This paper introduces a novel workflow composition approach based on ontologies and hierarchical task network (HTN) automated planning.

Significance: The paper summarises virtual workflow aspects of the work that formed the basis for the successful EU proposal Fish4Knowledge (F4K). The virtual workflow machine, its 3 layered knowledge based framework and the applied marine biology videos (captured in open sea) processing as described in this paper has obtained a Google award for its scholarly effort (Anita Borg award) for two years, 2008/9 and 2009/10.

Rigour: Assessed on Ecogrid video with statistical hypothesis testing using the t-distribution.
