Additional information

<16> Originality: Reports an experiment showing that results from a semantic search engine used as relevance feedback improve the results of normal search, establishing a novel connection.

Significance: Brought the 'identity problem' of the Semantic Web into a mainstream journal, providing a clear explanation of the difference between the positions of the two main camps. Identified relevant precedents for the dispute in the philosophy of language, which in turn suggest potentially fruitful directions in which to look for a resolution.

Rigour: Demonstrated that retrieval experiments could produce statistically significant empirical evidence bearing on significant issues of Web architecture.
