The cinema of Iciar Bollain

This study is the culmination of eight years’ research into Bollain’s work as actor, scriptwriter, producer and director. Her multifaceted, extensive output necessitated study of copious primary and secondary material, as well as application of a wide range of interrelated film, cultural and psychoanalytical theories. It has also required interviews with Bollain and various of her collaborators over the years, and many visits to the Spanish National Film archives for numerous film viewings of her own and related work, as well as research into archival material such as recorded and published interviews, trade, journalistic and scholarly publications.
