Quantified and revealed the extraordinary rates for a MIMO relay channel, and provided a set of theories for understanding the behaviours of the channel. Led to a funding award under the Major International Joint Research Project from National Science Foundation China (partners: Southeast University (Xiqi Gao), University of Delaware (Xiang-Gen Xia & LJ Cimini), Missouri University of Science and Technology (Chengshan Xiao)). Led to further collaboration with CK Wen, National Sun Yat-Sen University, Taiwan and T Ratnarajah, University of Edinburgh.
