Additional information

This chapter explores connections between cognitive and creative processes in designing, drawing on research on assessing design capability that indicates how designing enables learners to recognise and grapple (metacognitively) with their own thinking processes. The potential of designerly thinking, beyond the direct context of design is explored, drawing on previous and ongoing research (e-scape Phase 3: 2007-2009). The chapter was an invited contribution to a collection honouring the lifetime research of Lars Lindstrom. The book was introduced by Howard Gardner and also included chapters from authors across Scandinavia and the USA.
