This paper was picked by the Advisory Panel of Maritime Engineering as one of the four best published in 2008 (notified by Journal’s Editorial Manager, ID_in_audit_file@ice.org.uk). This led to Dr Liang conducting consultancy for Scour Prevention Systems Ltd in 2010 where he numerically investigated the effectiveness of a novel scour mitigation measures using old tyres, under the East of England Development Agency’s Innovation Voucher scheme (Voucher numbers 81 and 130).
