This work resulted in Cambridge being invited to participate in a USD6M collaborative research project entitled "Integral Inherently Safe Light Water Reactor" led by Georgia Institute of Technology funded by the US Department of Energy and UK EPSRC. The Cambridge component (EPSRC reference: EP/K033611/1) is worth GBP279k. A further impact of this work is that it featured in a New Scientist article ("Waste not, want not: could particle accelerators eat radioactive waste - and generate power at the same time?" by James Mitchell Crow, 26 May 2012).
