Additional information

Millions of US dollars are spent annually on repairing buildings and roads and other damaged infrastructure due to the collapses of dolines in areas of limestone karst. This study contributes to understanding of karst relief in the mid-Tennessee region and in an innovative way maps the spatial extent of the areas which are highly susceptible to sinkhole-doline collapse. This work has practical impact on hazard management and its original methodology can be applied to other areas.
