Additional information

This research was funded by Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (Prof. T.D. Wilkinson e-mail: tdw13@cam.ac.uk) and the Nokia-Cambridge Strategic Partnership in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (Energy Programme) (Prof. G.A.J. Amaratunga e-mail: gaja1@cam.ac.uk). This paper was the first to report the idea of using nanostructures to produce continuous diffraction patterns (holograms). It laid the foundations for the successful work later published in the Advanced Materials journal (Butt’s Paper 1). This article was also featured as the front cover image of "Applied Physics Letters" (101, 25, 2012). http://apl.aip.org/resource/1/applab/v101/i25
