<16> Understanding the health of online communities is a problem of real economic and cultural significance that has emerged as online communities become ever more ubiquitous – e.g. for user support. This paper’s breakthrough is to show a correlation between users’ roles and behaviour, and the health of their community. A novel ontology of user behavior and context, along with role inference rules and a statistical reasoning method was implemented for the solution. Impact potential is evidenced by its use in a prototype tool being used by SAP to monitor the health of SAP's Community Network.
